Join us for a webinar that explored research on patient perspectives on mental health and cognitive dysfunction in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), based on original research conducted in this area. This session highlighted the lived experiences of individuals with SLE, shedding light on the emotional and cognitive challenges patients faced and their clinical implications. Insights from this work aimed to inform more patient-centered approaches in both clinical care and future research.
About Dr. Justin Smith:
Dr. Justin Smith is an adult rheumatologist now practicing out of the University of Alberta in Edmonton. He recently completed his Fellowship in SLE at the Toronto Western Hospital under Dr. Zahi Touma and was the Geoff Carr Fellowship recipient during the 2024-2025 cycle. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Calgary, and his medical school, Internal Medicine, and Adult Rheumatology training at the University of Alberta. His goal is to continue to use research to bridge the gap between patient experiences and clinical practice.
